Thankless

For once,
I am going to be thankless.
I wish I loved him, and he loved me back.
I wish I had her love the way I need it.
I wish he weren’t just part of me but part of my life.

I wish they weren’t sick.
I wish we were true to each other.
I wish I trusted him the way I used to.
I wish I were free.
I wish everything would be okay.

Some people do have perfect lives.
I’m lucky I’m not one of them, but sometimes,
I have the right to forget.
